Fabulous film flaws

These three are a few years old. They were taken with an old Praktica camera and shot on a very old and probably expired roll of Ilford hp5 plus 400.

I had no idea of what to expect when I had the roll developed and at first I wasn’t sure if I liked what I saw. But as it is often the case with film I fell in love with the photos after some time despite of - or maybe because of - their flaws.

Because the magic of film is that it is very difficult to create perfect photos. And I like that. After shooting digital for so many years and working with lightroom and photoshop in order to make every single photo perfect, it is such a relief to just have to accept what comes out of the camera.

In this case light leaks “ruined” the first two photos, and at first I was super disappointed, but now I wouldn’t want them to be any different. I love the vintage look of all three, but honestly I love the first two the most - probably because of the flaws.
