La Tour Eiffel

I am not sure why, but I am completely fascinated by the Eiffel Tower, and to be honest I had no idea until this Paris trip.

I had seen the tower before, when I lived in Paris back in 1996, and I had also been up there, but this time it was different.

I guess many people catch at least a glimpse of the tower, as soon as they enter Paris, but we arrived by train from the airport and got off at the Luxembourg stop, and there was no Eiffel Tower to be seen.

It wasn't until we had left our luggage at the hotel and gone for a walk in the Jardin du Luxembourg, that I suddenly looked up and saw the tip of the tower far away. And I admit it felt quite special.

The day after we got a full view from the Arc de Triomphe, and a few days later we finally went to see it close up and went all the way up to the top.

We never managed to see the tower after dark with the lights on, and I really regret that, but it just wasn't possible, since we walked so much from early morning until early dinner time, and by then we were so tired, that we just wanted to relax at the hotel.

Anyway there will definitely be a next time in Paris, and then we will make sure to stay out late to see the lights.

For now I only have iPhone shots of the tower, but I shot some film too, which I can't wait to see.
