I had wanted to do a Fresh 48 session for quite some time, so I was really happy when Sara wrote to me about doing one. I put the presumed date of birth in my calendar and told her to get in touch when time arrived.
Fresh 48 is a newborn/family documentary session which takes place within the first 48 hours after giving birth at home, at the hospital or at a private clinic.
On a Saturday night I got a message from Sara telling me that something seemed to be happening and that they were on their way to the hospital.
Something did happen! The next morning I woke up to a message with a photo of little Gemma who had arrived over night! As my Sunday afternoon was free we decided to do the session right away and this is how I got to photograph Gemma only 12 hours after her arrival into this world.
It was a quick session of 30 minutes but we managed to get all the important shots. I’m really happy with how the photos turned out, and I am absolutely certain that over the years these images will become such a treasure for Gemma and her parents.
In my opinion Fresh 48 is the most important session to do. Those first days with your newborn are so, so special and they will never come back. I know you may think that you won’t be up for it after giving birth, but I promise you that this is a very easy going, relaxed and quick session which can easily be done in 30-45 minutes.
If you would like more information about these sessions, all you have to do is drop me a line and I will get back to you.
