Next week schools will be over in Florence, and a long summer vacation of more than 3 months will have to be filled up with activities. I will still be working, but we will surely find the time to head for some of Florence’s outdoor swimming pools to cool off, when the heat becomes too much.
Our favorite “piscina” is Bellariva which is located app. 3 km from the center of Florence. The place is super child friendly as they have pools for children of all ages incl. a paddling pool. There is also a large outdoor area with grass, and a great bar and restaurant, where you can get sandwiches, salads, “primi” and more. Finally it’s quite easy to get here, as bus no. 14 stops nearby.
We also sometimes go to Piscina Costoli as it’s a bit closer to where we live. Costoli also has a large outdoor space and a great pool for kids of all ages. It can be a bit crowded though – especially on weekends.
A third pool – Le Pavoniere – is located inside the Cascine park. I haven’t been here for many years, but it’s a great option, if you want something closer to the center.
