12 months on film: April 2024

I am a bit behind on my 12 months on film project, and I just now got my April roll back from the lab.

I have discovered that it’s hard for me to finish an entire roll each month without taking too many boring and useless photos. And since film is a pricy affair, I have decided that what is important to me in this project is that I begin a new roll every month without necessarily having to finish it within 30 days. So I keep two cameras active at the same time and I switch between the two films depending on what I am shooting. This way I can take it easy and concentrate on shooting good stuff.

My choice for April was a Fujifilm 200 and my usual favorite Canon Ae-1 Program. I had never tried this film before and to be honest I don’t think I will again. It’s not that I don’t like it at all, but there is nothing here which Kodak Portra 400 or 160 couldn’t do better.

We are still taking day trips to other Italian cities, and in April we went to Bologna and Livorno.
